They say we know nothing. They say we don't care. But if they knew our daily struggles, our internal fights, our determination to break the cycles of poverty, laziness, drug addiction, and all the other faults that have been handed down to us, they WOULD simpLy say.... NOTHING.

The Hudson/Donerson Family Tragedy

My greatest fear has already happened....

Those were the words Julia Hudson, Jennifer Hudson's sister spoke at a press conference after the double murder of her mother and brother and the abduction of her son. Well, we all know now that Julian King, the seven year old boy that was missing since Friday afternoon, was found dead in the backseat of his uncle's truck in Chicago Monday.

Darnell

This is not a celebrity issue. This is not a tragic event because it happened to Jennifer Hudson. It is tragic, shocking, saddening because it happened. I was on my way to work when my godfather asked me who Jennifer Hudson was. I told him she was a contestant on American Idol and how she won an Oscar for her role in Dreamgirls. He then told me that her mother and brother were shot. I was shocked then. On the weekends I rarely check my gossip sites because, parties happen on the weekends so thats a time for most to snap pics and post them on Monday morning.

Jen & Jason

But I digress. When I got to work, I turned on CNN and sat in shock. Not only were Darnell Donerson and her son, Jason Hudson, shot, but they wer killed. And Donerson's seven-year old grandson, Julian King was now missing. Who in their right mind would randomly attack a family's house and kill two and abduct one? Not many. Sad to say it but when I watched the news, I figured it was someone the family knew.

Jen Darnell & Julia

After days of following this case, I would of never thought in a million years that the one suspect that was in custody would be Dornell Donerson's son-in-law and Julian King's step-father, 27 year old William Balfour. No I don't know the suspect but I just cannot fathom to believe that he would retaliate about being kicked out of a house by killing.

Julia & William

According to most news stories I've read, Balfour had been kicked out of Donerson's home on numerous occasions and in May, that was the final "eviction". His mother, Michelle Balfour, said that he was in love with Julia, his estranged wife, according to the Chicago Tribune. This love affair was costly.

It is said to say that, someone shot through the door of the house and killed Jason Hudson. When his mother, Donerson ran out screaming to see what had happened, she was then shot and killed. Who did it? Know one knows. However, William Balfour, is a suspect. And his alibi was contradicted by his pregnant girlfriend.

A man that took his role as a step-father serious. He had bonding sessions with the boy, which he called "Boys Only" Trips. The trips only lasted long enough for a trip to a local Popeye's Chicken but, it still happened. This man had troubles with the law before.

In 1998, he was caught driving a stolen vehicle and he was pulled over but fled the scene. He was released on bail. During that time, he was caught breaking into a man's truck, by the owner and drove off with the owner of the truck hanging onto the roof. He set the police on a high speed chase that ended with the SUV being crashed into a telephone pole, only after taking a detour on the Dan Ryan Expressway. William fled this scene as well.

In September 1999, he was sentenced to seven years in prison after pleading guilty to attempted murder and car hijacking, according to Court Reports.

May 2006, was the release date for Balfour and the reconnection of William Balfour and Julia Hudson, an elementary school classmate. They were married in December 2006 much to the shaky welcome of the Donerson/Hudson family.

William Balfour is now being held at Stateville Correctional Center in Joliet, Illinois. Due to him becoming a murder suspect, he violated his parole.

So I went on Jennifer Hudson's Myspace page and found her sister's page. Julia Hudson said that,

NOW BECAUSE I CHOSE TO DO WHAT WAS NATURAL TO ME AND LOVE SOMEONE , IT COST ME MY BEAUTIFUL FAMILY MY WONDERFUL BEAUTIFUL LOVING SUPPORTING MOTHER DARNELL, MY TRUE BLUE BABY BROTHER JASON , I LOVE U BIG BABY ... AND LAST BUT NEVER NOT LEAST MY ONLY SON JULIAN , MY INNOCENT BABY ONE THAT WAS SHELTERED FROM ALL THE EVIL OIN THE WORLD BECAUSE WE LOVED HIM SO MUCH...

I totally agree with the fact that she thought maybe someone would have found her on Myspace to release a ransom for her son. It is the new age, 2008 to be exact and Myspace just may have been a spot to get more media coverage for the boy. I just cannot fathom this tragedy with anyone I know let alone a celebrity.

Jennifer Hudson has asked to remember to keep her family's privacy in mind.

Chicago Tribune They have great video of press coverage concerning the tragedy.

HEY PACMAN... GET OVER YOURSELF!!!

*UPDATE*
So before I posted my blog, I figured I should do some more research on Mr. Adam Pacman Jones. I'm not into football so I don't really follow their stories. But I searched my man. And here's his wrap sheet...

July 13, 2005
Arrested on charges of assault and feleony vandalism after a
nightclub altercation.

September 5, 2005
After leaving a Nashville Sports Council kickoff Luncheon, he got
into it with the valet because he had to wait in line, which caused
police to intervene. Then he goes on to refuse to pay for the valet.
Why? Because he didn't have the money!

October 2005
He didn't make enought visits with his parole officer and didn't show
to his arrest in Nashville from the nightclub altercation.

The probabtion was extended to 90 days after this.

August 25, 2006
Arrested in Murfreesboro, TN for disorderly conduct and public intoxication
after accussing a woman of stealing his wallet. She said she didn't
and Mr. Adam Jones had spat on her. He was asked to leave and he refused.
He continued to verbally harrass the woman.

He was ordered six months probabtion on the condition that he stays
out of trouble and away from the nightclub.

October 26, 2006
Cited for a misdemeanor assault for "alledgedly" spitting in a young
woman's, a Tennessee State University student, face at a private party
at a Tennessee nightclub, Club Mystic.

He was suspended by the Titans for one game and was scheduled to be
booked on the charge on November 17, 2006.

2007
He was suppossed to appear in a Fayetteville, GA court after some stuff
in 2006 (subpeonas for felony and misdemeanor obstruction of justice
charges.) Charges of marijuana possession in the same state were
dismissed.

February 19, 2007
So from reading some articles, its said that during NBA all-star weekend
in Vegas, Pacman and Nelly were at a stripclub. Minxx. And Nelly was
making it rain (throwing money out on the stage) and Jones joined him
making it rain with his own money. The promoter for the night, Chris Mitchell
told his dancers to get the money. And when one of the girls was spotted by
Jones doing so, he ALLEGEDLY grabbed her by her hair and slammed her face
into the stage! Like for real P? So after being escorted out, he threatens
the life of the security guard who intervened.

After the club "let=Out", someone opens fire with the security guard being
shot twice and a former pro-wrestler being hit which caused him to be
permanantely paralyzed from the waist down.

March 26, 2007
The Las Vegas police asked the city's district attorney to
charge Jones with one count of felony coercion and one misdemeanor
count of battery and one count of threat to life.

April 10, 2007
Jones was suspended from the NFL for the whole season.

June 18, 2007
The police wanted him for questioning after a shooting at an Atlanta
strip club. Why? Because some members of his "entourage" were allegedly
involved. But based on the investigation, he was not at the scene during
the shooting therefore he was not charged.

June 20, 2007
Las Vegas courts announced that he would face two felony counts after
investigations of the All-Star weekend were performed.

November 13, 2007
He accepted a plea deal.

December 6, 2007
Jones pleaded no contest to one charge of conspiracy to commit
disorderly conduct, a misdemeanour. He was given a suspended
prison sentence of a one-year, probation, and ordered to perform
200 hours of community service.

I'm done with this man. If you want to read some more about this MESS, check out the sites I went on to get the information. I have links below. And it seems like, he's his own worst enemy. Causing his own trouble. Allowing his name and the color of his skin to dictate what he does. Just because you're a professional football player doesn't mean that you can do whatever you want. Remember before football player comes PROFESSIONAL!!! And that goes for all professional athletes.

Oh wait, he's a rapper too! Check the vid out below!!!

In trouble due to some drug dealer's plea bargain. Daryl Moore. Once again, check out the vid below.

Don Imus

So some say he hasn't learned his lesson. Some say he is a biggot who needs to be off the air period. But I say that he is a misunderstood man. He's trying to somewhat make amends based on the comments he said. And think about it. Maybe Imus wants to be black. Ever thought about that?

I mean, we call eachother nappy headed-hoe. Our friends actually. We say, 'Oooh my hair is nappy'. We call eachother hoes. But when someone of a different race does it, its not fair. Just like when a Mexican man says N!%%@, its cool when he's referring to himself. But if he is trying to demean an African-American, its not right. Come on now. Sure, I've said the word. I'm trying to change. But I look at it as more of a maturing state. It makes no sense that I can get mad at a person for doing something when I do it myself. That's just general living people.

I'm on my third/fourth summer read and in it the main character is in London. So, he meets a woman from Botswana. They talk and he refers to her as African. She finds it funny, quiet weird because, in Africa, she is looked at as a Motswana woman from Botswana. Not African. In America, we are looked at as African-Americans, Mexicans, Arabs, Whites, etc. You get the drift. But once our feet hit land that is not our own, we're American.

Will that ever change? No. I doubt it will. No matter how many Peace Rallies, activist groups, lobbyists, it won't change. Sad to say. But that doesn't mean you can't. I'll admit, I wasn't the worst person, but I know God wasn't happy. And he isn't feeling the fact that I stopped sharing my gift because of laziness and other things that took place.

Now, enough venting, back to Imus. I see his point. I can understand where he was coming from when he sort of rebuted his statements however, he needs to realize that he is looked at just like a black man now. The statements he made towards the Rutger's women's basketball team placed a microscope over his life now. They are watching him like a hawk, like a convicted felon, like a terrorist. So everytime he says something, he's going to have to give reasoning for his statements.

And sure Pacman Jones has been in some trouble. But the only thing I disagree with is when Imus says Everybody does something once. Not true Mister Imus. Not true. And maybe we as a people are using our race to our advantage at times. Saying, it's because I'm black right? That's the first thing I think of when someone of a different race makes me upset when I'm shopping or having dinner with a friend. But that probably is not the case ALL THE TIME! Not saying never, but just maybe the person had a bad day. Or maybe they've been taught that blacks are out to get something. And I wonder where that STEREOTYPE came from????????? Hmmmmmmmmmmm. I've heard, you can be your own worst enemy...

Now, Mr. Imus will be apologizing for a while. But then he switched it up just like a great journalist should. He told us what we should be outraged about. And that is, blacks being arrested for no reason. I agree. Don't focus on what he's saying if you're not really worried about it. You're just jumping on the hate ship so it'll be a reason as to why you are mean to people at work, in your neighborhood, school, at the bank, DMV, etc. I've known and heard people saying, I hate whites. Why? Because one upset you in the past? Excuse my cliche (that may be offensive to some) One Monkey Don't Stop No Show! And that's real.

Mr. Imus... how about you just talk on sports. Don't worry about race, creed, sexual orientation or anything. And this is just for the betterment of your own job!

So I'm Late

Its summertime. And that means two things for me. Working hard and reading. I love curling up on the couch and grabbing a book and reading the hot dog days of summer away.

So I got a book today. One that has been out for about two years now but, I never got around to reading it. I'm not too much of a Nonfiction person but, I had to read this one. On The Down Low by J.L.King! Now I've read every fiction book E.Lynn Harris, the homosexual African American author has written but to read one that is the truth. Not maybe, memoirs, or half truth-half make up, is crazy!

I'm only on Chapter 3 but, King doesn't classify himself as gay or straight. He says it his business. He goes on to say that he feels bad for the women and men that he claimed to have loved. The ones who he lied to about his sexuality. He says somethings about how he still loves his ex-wife. How he couldn't go on any longer as a brother on the DL because, he looked at the women surrounding him, the closest ones to him. Like his daughter and other female figures whom he respected.

But then he goes on to say that a DL brother doesn't necessarily fit the mold of a gay man. And after reading all eight of Harris' books in the series, I agree. They can be hidden behind a mask. Or I'll call it a safe blanket. And that blanket comes in the form of their career, their religion, their fraternity, etc. But why is it okay for men to have this blanket when yet so many things are bleeding through.

I at a time considered myself down for the cause. I was all about informing people about AIDS. I spoke out on the fact that some pro-football players are on the DL. I only took that from the reading of Harris' first novel, Invisible Life but, I knew I was right. I just knew that wearing a condom, getting tested, and avoiding AIDS would be so easy. No matter how much you love a person, STAY PROTECTED.

But this was all before I had lost my virginity. It's so easy to say something before you've been in that situation. Not saying, I have AIDS. Not saying, I have anything but, have I ever asked a partner if they've been tested? No. Have I ever asked ANY male I knew how they felt about the DL stuff? No. Have I ever looked at a guy I was dealing with a thought.....mmmmm he's on the Down Low. No. But that doesn't mean they weren't.

I pray none of the men I know have but he went on to say that some people still think it is a gay WHITE man's disease. When statistics today show that eventhough we as African American's make up 13% of the country's populations, we accounted for 48% of new AIDS cases in 2005. (Information taken from UNAIDS study. Is that not enough to scare anyone besides me? I understand that the undercover brothers are normally married. You normally get married in your late 20s early 30s. So, most people on Facebook are outside of this category. But we still need to be concerned.

For all you may know, the guy sitting next to you in your Chemistry class may be interested in the boy who walks into the lecture late everyday just as much as you! Do you think the security blanket these men live under was just thrown over their heads after they got married?

Thoughts became reality in college for most of the DL men. My sisters, my friends, my hearts, hell MY ENEMIES! Wake up. Be careful who you love and who you let invade your bodies. Really be careful. King said he met a man in church! In church yall. They were not physical but he gave the man the keys to his apartment so he could get it on with another DL dude!? Oh and his friend was married with child on the way. The woman had no idea! And of course the man came up with HIV! Be for real. Stand up and wake up. Ask questions. If they don't like it then, screw them! We are all going to die but please, don't die dumb...

Sex And The City Review

So I am probably the only woman in America who has never watched an episode of Sex and The City however, thanks to our media, I was so excited to see the movie! Sex and the City was ultimately a masterpiece. A film that not only wanted me to find love but now I believe, it exists. No really, it does.

Thanks to the four different main characters, Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda, I know love comes in AT least four different views. First there was Carrie. She'd been the main chick for ten years. Not like, the wife, the main chick. And she was fine with that. That is until, her friends and everyone else started in on her realtionship with Mr.Big.

Then there was Samantha. The almost fifty year old woman who spent most of her life caring about herself and not caring what other's thought of her. i.e., she loved to COLOR!!! For a lack of better words. Now Samantha is in a relationship and after five years, she doesn't know if its what she really wants. Well, thanks to the fine neighbor next door, who would?

Then Charlotte. A perfect life, a perfect husband, a perfect adopted child, and a perfect body. She's the woman who was together but still afraid. The woman who most would envy but dare to even speak a single word of it into existence. Charlotte ended the movie with a dream come true. But she needed reassurance from her friends, especially Carrie.

And finally Miranda. Married, with child. Full time plus lawyer. Who probably could have done without the child if it meant more focus to her career. However, her husband was the one to suffer. The one who wondered what it was that he did wrong. The feeling that most women get, is what he felt. That is until he cheated. The relationship was over within the next scene. Living apart, sharing days with the son and nanny took its toll on both sides of the marriage. Finally it ended with therapy and... well, you just have to see the movie again.

Did Carrie get married? Did Miranda get back with her husband? Did Samantha go back to her old ways? Who had a child? What did Jennifer Hudson do in the film? Well, go see it! Go see it! Go see it! Men and women alike. There were some men in there but that shows compassion. I think a man seeing that movie with his lady would be a plus to him. Guaranteed action in the hours to follow(LMAO) and some lessons. Lessons on what women want. And to show that the friends your girl has do make an impact.

Is it always a good one? No but, take heed. Take heed.

Introducing WALE

So, its Saturday afternoon and I'm doing some research. I am blessed to be rather open to change. So, when I was introduced to Go-Go music and the culture of Maryland, DC, and parts of VA, I welcomed it. Go-Go music, according to Wikipedia, is a subgenre of funk that originated in the Washington, D.C., area during the mid- to late-1970s. A handful of bands contributed to the early evolution of the genre, but singer-guitarist Chuck Brown is credited with having developed most of the hallmarks of the style. In technical terms, "Go-go's essential beat is characterized by a syncopated, dotted rhythm that consists of a series of quarter and eighth notes (quarter, eighth, quarter, (space/held briefly), quarter, eighth, quarter)… which is underscored most dramatically by the bass drum and snare drum, and the hi-hat… [and] is ornamented by the other percussion instruments, especially by the conga drums, timbale, and hand-held cowbells."[2] A swing rhythm is often implied (if not explicitly stated).

I love the music. Now today, I know of a guy named Wale. (Pronounced Why-Lay). He is a Washington D.C. hip hop artist. Born September 21, 1984. (He's turning 24 this year) He hit mainstream with a feature on a Roots song with Chrisette Michele. He first hit the District with a song called Rhyme of the Cetury. This was played on the radio in 2004. This led to a feature in Unsigned Hype, a section in the famous magazine Source in June 2005. Wale continued to work. And his first non go-go inspired piece, Uptown Roamers, debuted on XM radio September 14, 2006. His first interview was with MTV News at a performance he did at the Highline Ballroom in Manhattan. The show was for Mark Ronson's album but Wale more than played his part. The event was July 11, 2007, the same day Wale released a free downloadable mixtape, 100 Miles & Running, on his Myspace page.

Wale was given the chance to perform W.A.L.E.D.A.N.C.E., a track from his mixtape at the 2007 MTV VMAs in Vegas.

March 2008, Wale signed with Interscope records. Wale is featured on several tracks on The Roots 2008 released, Rising Down. In May, Wale released his fourth mixtape, The Mixtape About Nothing, for free on his website, elitaste.com. The mixtape can also be downloaded at 10deep.com.

Now, back to today. I was on a website and Wale has a freestyle over Put On,(Listen to it above.) Jeezy's latest song featuring Kanye. I like it. I don't love it but, I like it. Enjoy... He has some more tracks on The Miixtape Messiah's YouTube Channel, enjoy.

Check Him Out!!! The MIXTAPE MESSIAH

This is a new guy I found on YouTube while searching for people. I think I'm going to try and get an interview pretty soon. This guy seems worth it. With a tag line on his Channel page that says Keep It 100, and follow your dreams. I totally agree with that. I almost fell in love with him being that he had so many songs I've never heard from some of the favorites. Lil Wayne, Ricky Ross, Yung Joc, Akon, etc. Check him out and enjoy. I'll be adding something everyday from him. Just to support. Oh and the left at the top of the page those are vids that he has put up with music.

I hope you enjoy him as much as I do. The Mixtape Messiah!!!!

Here is the remix to Mariah Carey's Bye Bye with Akon and Weezy

Plies New Video

Plies latest single I'm the Man featuring Trey Songz. Check it out. I think we like Plies now and Trey is amazing so... enjoy! Oh and big ups to Plies for coming out with a second album so soon. I'm geeked.

NBA DRAMA

So this has got to be the best NBA commercial in a long time. One that features the current greats. Well, most of them, except for Mr. Flash himself, DWYANE WADE!!!!!!!!! You know I still love that man.

So in recent news, the NBA refs are back in trouble again. The ref who will be sentenced next month for betting on games he reffed and accepting payoffs, Tim Donaghy, said he wasn't the only one. And David Stern, NBA commissioner, steps up and says, The accusations that we manipulate games, the facts underlying those, they are false. We don't, .... And on behalf of my officials I would like to tell you they don't engage in the criminal conduct of which Mr. Donaghy has accused them." According to _____________ Mr. Donaghy said other refs influenced the outcomes of the Finals for 2002 and 2005. He went on to say that some refs have more than business relationships with coaches, players, and even club execs.

Honestly, I don't doubt that refs may change some games. But do I think the Detroit Pistons 2005 Championship win was fixed? Heck no. Wrestling is fake. Basketball is not. And if it were that big of a deal, why hasn't anything been said until now? How long has the National Basketball Association been in existence? For real.

So now, the NBA has to cover their behinds and watch the games after they are played to say, yeah, there should have been a call here or, that should have been a tech. Come on now. That's when it should be considered fake. Either way it goes, one team is not going to be happy. The players are still getting paid an EXCESS of money and yeah, they are still the number one ranked viewing show with a rating of 13.5 for Game 3 and 13.8 for Game 4.

Stern in a recent press conference said, I find it less than fair that our officials have to defend themselves against allegations by one of their fallen brethern. I totally agree.

Who is This Man?

So I've been wondering about this next election ahead of us. People have been going "Obama" crazy with t-shirts, You Tube vids, catchy sayings, and everyday talk. I'll be honest. I have not done too much research on the man and I refuse to jump on the ban wagon with everyone else before I do. And to be resepctful to all of the readers. I am not only going to research Barak but also his current competition John McCain.

So my first beef with Obama, when I visited his website I felt like I had to give. When you first visit a page, the first page either makes you want to stay or leave. And when I first visited Mr. Obama's page, I wanted to leave. Why? Because, he's asking for more money! In recent news, Obama was getting somewhere around $1 million a day from supporters. So, why does he need more? I would think he wants people to know about where he stands before they are ready to contribute right?

I digress. Back to the site. Barak kicked off his two week tour June 9th in Raleigh, North Carolina focusing on economic crisis. I'll look for a video to put up from YouTube today.

The education spill. Everyone always talks about the K-12 group of education. And allowing students to reach their highest level when research today says you don't make any money anymore unless you have a college degree. Some fields are looking for Master's now. Bachelor's is not enough. So, Mr. Obama, what about those people?

What about the people who make up Generation Y? We want to go to school. We want to finish school, but the governmental aide is few and far between. Is something going to be done so that students can go to school with some form of financial assistance? Not having to do with the GPA of a person. I know some of the smartest people whose grades did not show it. That didn't mean they weren't smart, it just meant that either they didn't apply themselves, they were stressed, or just not test people. So they don't deserve the financial assistance that Person B gets because their grades don't show it? Bull.

Back to the website. Strong Families. What is that? Just because a child is not raised with a mother and father means the family is not strong? Just because a child is raised by parents who could care less about them means the family is not strong? What is this? How can you teach someone to have a strong family? Each person is their own family. In the end, I'll have a child. That is my family. It is left up to each person to decide on whether or not they plan to be strong. And what would the government do? Give a stimulus payment to strong families? Yeah, and the next year the divorce rate would sky rocket.

He is apart of the Foreign Policy Committee.

Healthcare, let's look at that. I totally agree. Obama made a great statement in his speech in Iowa City May 27, 2007: I...believe that every American has the right to affordable health care. I believe that the millions of Americans who can't take their children to a doctor when they get sick have that right...We now face an opportunity - and an obligation - to turn the page on the failed politics of yesterday's health care debates. It's time to bring together businesses, the medical community, and members of both parties around a comprehensive solution to this crisis, and it's time to let the drug and insurance industries know that while they'll get a seat at the table, they don't get to buy every chair."

The poverty population has reached 37 million. According to Obama's website...Minimum Wage is Not Enough: Even when a parent works full-time earning minimum wage and EITC and food stamps are factored into their income, families are still $1,550 below the federal poverty line because of the flat-lined minimum wage. And he plans to change that.

Below is a piece taken directly from Barak Obama's website. His plan. I see some good things in his plan. So will I vote for him? Yes I will. After researching, I will.

Barack Obama's Plan
Expand Access to Jobs

Help Americans Grab a Hold of and Climb the Job Ladder:
Obama will invest $1 billion over five years in transitional jobs and career pathway programs that implement proven methods of helping low-income Americans succeed in the workforce.
Create a Green Jobs Corps: Obama will create a program to directly engage disadvantaged youth in energy efficiency opportunities to strengthen their communities, while also providing them with practical skills in this important high-growth career field.

Improve Transportation Access to Jobs:
As president, Obama will work to ensure that low-income Americans have transportation access to jobs. Obama will double the federal Jobs Access and Reverse Commute program to ensure that additional federal public transportation dollars flow to the highest-need communities and that urban planning initiatives take this aspect of transportation policy into account.

Reduce Crime Recidivism by Providing Ex-Offender Supports: Obama will work to ensure that ex-offenders have access to job training, substance abuse and mental health counseling, and employment opportunities. Obama will also create a prison-to-work incentive program and reduce barriers to employment.
Make Work Pay for All Americans

Expand the Earned Income Tax Credit:
Obama will increase the number of working parents eligible for EITC benefits, increase the benefits available to parents who support their children through child support payments, increase benefits for families with three or more children, and reduce the EITC marriage penalty, which hurts low-income families.

Create a Living Wage:
Obama will raise the minimum wage and index it to inflation to make sure that full-time workers can earn a living wage that allows them to raise their families and pay for basic needs such as food, transportation, and housing.

Provide Tax Relief:
Obama will provide all low and middle-income workers a $500 Making Work Pay tax credit to offset the payroll tax those workers pay in every paycheck. Obama will also eliminate taxes for seniors making under $50,000 per year.

Strengthen Families

Promote Responsible Fatherhood:
Obama will sign into law his Responsible Fatherhood and Healthy Families Act to remove some of the government penalties on married families, crack down on men avoiding child support payments, and ensure that payments go to families instead of state bureaucracies.

Support Parents with Young Children:
Obama will expand the highly-successful Nurse-Family Partnership to all 570,000 low-income, first-time mothers each year. The Nurse-Family Partnership provides home visits by trained registered nurses to low-income expectant mothers and their families.

Expand Paid Sick Days:
Today, three-out-of-four low-wage workers have no paid sick days. Obama supports guaranteeing workers seven paid sick days per year.

Increase the Supply of Affordable Housing

Create an Affordable Housing Trust Fund:
Obama will create an Affordable Housing Trust Fund to develop affordable housing in mixed-income neighborhoods.

Fully Fund the Community Development Block Grant:
Obama will fully fund the Community Development Block Grant program and engage with urban leaders across the country to increase resources to the highest-need Americans.

Tackle Concentrated Poverty

Establish 20 Promise Neighborhoods:
Obama will create 20 Promise Neighborhoods in areas that have high levels of poverty and crime and low levels of student academic achievement in cities across the nation. The Promise Neighborhoods will be modeled after the Harlem Children's Zone, which provides a full network of services, including early childhood education, youth violence prevention efforts and after-school activities, to an entire neighborhood from birth to college.

Ensure Community-Based Investment Resources in Every Urban Community:
Obama will work with community and business leaders to identify and address the unique economic development barriers of every major metropolitan area. Obama will provide additional resources to the federal Community Development Financial Institution Fund, the Small Business Administration and other federal agencies, especially to their local branch offices, to address community needs.

Invest in Rural Areas:
Obama will invest in rural small businesses and fight to expand high-speed Internet access. He will improve rural schools and attract more doctors to rural areas.

I think I am more than pleased with what I have read. But saying and acting are completely different. Let's pray that whoever gets in office, will act on their campaign rather than refer to it.

Pied Piper???

So, since I was doing some research on the R. Kelly trial, I wanted to know about this Pied Piper nickname he gave himself a while back. Get this.

The Pied Piper was, in the beginning, a rat catcher. He would play a pipe and lure the rodents out and lead them into the river to drown. He had done the work for a whole town. The townsmen refused to pay him so, he left. Only to return again. He came back with a vengence to get revenge. The Piper came and played the flute, only this time to attract the town's children. He "supposedly" led 130 children into a cave never to be seen again...

So does that mean R. Kelly has 130 tapes hidden somewhere? Or does that mean, he has 130 songs that are yet to be released that will put the world into an R. Kelly daze???

I'm just being silly. I'm moving on to some Political stuff next... Stay tuned

R. Kelly On Trial

So, the trial is finally on! After more than ten years after the act happened, R Kelly is on trial! Now, let's look back on the events which led up to this fateful day...

1991 and 1994
Robert Sylvester Kelly (R. Kelly) had more than one sex suit dealing with minors. However these cases were settled and Kelly denied even knowing these women.

1996
R. Kelly married his, now estranged, wife Andrea Lee.

February 2002
Kelly's sex tape released to the Chicago-Sun Times.

June 6,2002
R. Kelly was indicted on 21 counts of having sexual intercourse with a minor.

January 23, 2003
R.Kelly was in trobule again. This time in Polk County, Florida. He was charged with twelve counts of possession of child pornography. Authorities "found" a digital camera with some pictures of a minor female. Three of the photos included Kelly and the girl having sex. The allegations were just that and the charges were dropped after the search was ruled as illegal.

2003
In an article with XXL, Kelly says that Osama Bin Laden is the only one who understands what he is going through. In reference to his trial troubles.

2004
After doing some research, I remember hearing about this story. Detroit Tigers star Gary Sheffield's wife, Deleon Richards supposedly had a tape with Kelly from back in the day.

A dancer sued Kelly because he circulated a tape with her performing some "sexual acts" on him. She said the taping was without her consent and not properly protected.

October 27, 2006
Pre-trial motions took place at a Cook county court. The date of the trial was set for February 7, 2007.

February 7, 2007
R. Kelly was not in court due to a burst appendix. He was in the hospital and would be out later that day??? I just wonder...

February 21, 2007
The make up date.

The trial was then delayed due to some questions on when the tape was actually made and the presiding judge fell and broke some bones so he would still be recovering. The new date...

September 17, 2007
Some time between then and now, the charges were reduced to soliciting a minor for child pornography.

May 9, 2008
The jury selection began.

May 15, 2008
Jury selection ends with twelve jurors. Eight men and four women.

May 20,2008
Kelly goes on trial with 14 counts facing him. (Seven counts of videotaping the act and seven counts of producing child pornography.) The tape was shown on the first day of trial.

June 3, 2008
The prosecution's case wrapped

June 9, 2008
The defense's case wrapped

Okay so now, some women has "randomly" come forth saying that she had a threesome with R Kelly and the girl. Where has she been for the past ten years? And how about this one. Did you know that the girl and her parents are saying its not even her in the tape! Shouldn't that be enough? And if its not her, then who is it? Hmmmmmmmmm. I've never seen the tape, nor do I want to however, it seems kind of fishy if you ask me.

Well, leave some comments and let's support the man. Oh, that reminds me! I was listening to the radio last week and the morning show did a poll. Would you support R. Kelly if he was judged guilty in the end? I say yes because he was a musical genius before the tape, during, and after. People are always trying to mess with someone's dream and money! The man likes little girls. Put him on the sex offender list and move on. As long as he isn't making any music about little girls. And to all the people that even said they would stop supporting Kelly, then don't let your kids listen to him either!

You'll let the kids listen to Pu$$y Popping but not an R Kelly remix!? He's one of the greatest!
